WebCompared to the many other sacred cows I've trampled on to stuff these items into the 5e framework, this is a minor issue. Definitely. I thought the same thing making them. They probably do step on the Sorcerer's toes a bit; regardless, magic items are in the DM's purview, so if a DM doesn't like it, they can just not introduce metamagic rods.
