WebbPhilo (20 B.C.E. – 50 C.E.), known also as Philo of Alexandria and as Philo Judaeus, was a Hellenized Jewish philosopher who synthesized Stoic, Platonic and Jewish ideas and laid a philosophical and theological foundation for the development of Christianity in the West and the East and, indirectly, for rational theologians in the Jewish and Islamic worlds.
